Finsbury Park Area Guide
Finsbury Park is an area towards the northern edge of Inner London, England, which grew up around an important railway interchange near the convergence of the Boroughs of Islington, Haringey and Hackney. Finsbury Park has one of the first park laid out in the Victorian era. The park provides one of the largest green spaces in central north London. It has a mix of open ground, formal gardens, avenues of mature trees and an arboretum area with a mix of more unusual trees. There is also a lake, a children's play area, a cafe and an art exhibition space. The stretch of Seven Sisters Road running past Finsbury Park is open to the park on the west side, and on the east side are large Victorian villas now mainly used as hotels.
Schools
Almost all of Finsbury Park’s primary schools are well respected and doing well. The following schools are judged to be "outstanding" by Ofsted: Gillespie in Gillespie Road; St John’s Highbury Vale CofE in Conewood Street; St Aidans VC in Albany Road, and Woodberry Down in Woodberry Grove. The same can be said with all the state comprehensive schools that are also judged to be performing well. Highbury Grove in Highbury Grove and St Aloysius RC in Hornsey Lane are judged to be “outstanding”.Top-performing private schools are to be found nearby in Highgate.
Transport
On the Underground, the rail network and with plenty of bus services, Finsbury Park is a busy transport hub.
