Muswell Hill Area Guide
Muswell Hill
A suburban and low-rise urban district of the north, outer LondonBoroughs of Haringey and a small part of Barnet. It is between Highgate, Hampstead Garden Village, East Finchley and Crouch End. It has many roads with Edwardian architecture.
Family life is what Muswell Hill is all about, with people making a beeline for homes in the catchment areas of the most popular state schools.
Located seven miles north of central London with Highgate to the south, Finchley to the west, Wood Green to the east and Friern Barnet and Whetstone to the north, Muswell Hill’s popularity has been achieved in spite of its relative isolation.
Some Muswell Hill residents live within walking distance of East Finchley or Highgate Tube stations, which are both on the Northern line. Others can walk to Alexandra Palace train station with services to Moorgate via Finsbury Park. All stations are in Zone 3 and an annual travel card to Zone 1 will costs around £1,600. For the rest the only form of public transport to take them out of the area is the very regular W7 bus service to Finsbury Park, or the 102 or 299 buses to Bounds Green Tube on the Piccadilly line.
